The credential validation engine uses a rule definition language in JSON format, which allows validating any credential with standard schema and credentials with custom schemas.
Multi -type , multi-attribute validations can be assigned to each of the requested “Verifiable Presentations”, with regular expressions on the text values, arithmetic comparison of dates and numbers, and search for a specific value in an array of values in the credential.
This allows you to compose rules that request, among other possibilities, that the credential:
- Was issued by a specific entity - or by some entity on a list.
- Has been issued or will expire before/after some specific date.
- Be of some specific type. ( StudentCredential , FacultyCredential , ProofOfResidence , …).
- With age analysis (+18, or a certain age range).
It also allows you to request that the presentation contain more than one credential, for instance, werify a student credential that is at least one year old, with an alumni club membership credential.
Rules can be composed that offer alternatives about the sets of credentials to be presented, for example, accepting any of these sets:
- A teaching credential issued by the university, and a physician credential issued by a trusted entity.
- A student ID card issued by the university in 2023, or later.
- An email credential with the domain “@universidad.com”.
A visual interface is offered for creating simple rules by credential and issuer types, which also allows you to load advanced rules in JSON format. Documentation and examples for creating advanced rules will be included.
